Sports Medicine/Athletic Training

KDHHS rehab offers prevention and recovery therapies for sports participants and weekend warriors. Our staff includes certified/licensed athletic trainers (ATC's) who are educated in prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries that result from physical activity.

Athletic Trainers work with physical therapists to improve athletic function. Athletic training services are also provided to area high school athletes through an outreach program that we've had in place for many years.  Safety is our top priority.  We also want to help student athletes recover from injuries as quickly as possible.

NEW - Concussion management.  Athletic Trainers from KDH Rehab play a key role in concussion management.  Concussions may occur in any sport when there is contact with the head.  Approximately ten percent of all athletes involved in contact sports such as football and soccer suffer a concussion each season.  To learn more about concussion testing, please call (812) 265-0545.

Athletic Trainers at KDH provide baseline concussion testing for area student athletes.  Baseline information helps ATC's and physicians evaluate the athlete and determine whether the athlete has suffered a possible concussion.  After further evaluation, physicians and ATC's use a follow-up baseline exam to help determine whether when an athlete may safely return to athletic activities.
